SKU: 1700 and 1600 series

Kamvaloks (1700 and 1600 series)

The OPW Kamvalok is a dry disconnect coupler used at liquid transfer points where any product loss is unacceptable. Connections and disconnections are made by simply closing and opening two cam arms — no tools required. Both the coupler and the adaptor contain automatic spring-loaded poppet assemblies that close on disconnection, preventing spills from both sides. Available in 1½” (DN40), 2″ (DN50) and 3″ (DN80), in stainless steel and aluminium, with Nitrile, Fluorocarbon, PTFE, EPDM and FFKM seal options.

Application

Kamvalok dry disconnect couplers are used wherever liquid transfer must occur without product loss — including hazardous, flammable or environmentally sensitive fluids. Common applications include:

  • Tank truck loading and unloading — petroleum, chemicals, solvents
  • Rail car and tanker transfer operations
  • Drum filling and chemical dispensing
  • Transfer points for hazardous materials where spill protection is required
  • Any application where disconnection under filled-line conditions is needed

How the Kamvalok dry disconnect works

Connection is made by placing the coupler onto the adaptor and closing the two cam arms, which lock into the machined groove around the circumference of the adaptor. The lever-action opens the poppet assemblies in both halves simultaneously, allowing product flow.

To disconnect, the cam arms are opened. The poppet assemblies in both the coupler and the adaptor close automatically and simultaneously before separation, preventing product release from either side. The adaptor remains on the system with its valve closed until the next connection.

Key features

  • Dual closure — automatic poppet closure in both the coupler and adaptor on disconnection; product is contained from both directions
  • 360° orientation — the coupler connects in any rotational position onto the adaptor, simplifying operation in confined spaces
  • Spill protection — reduces hazards during connection and disconnection of hazardous or flammable materials
  • Lever-actuated poppets — smooth opening and closing even under high-pressure conditions
  • Simple operation — no special tools required; designed for frequent use in operational environments
  • Material flexibility — stainless steel and aluminium bodies with multiple seal materials to suit the transferred media

Kamvalok vs other dry disconnect options

Treloar supplies several dry disconnect coupling types. Here’s how the Kamvalok compares:

Product Best for Key difference Size range
OPW Kamvalok (this page) Tank truck, rail and drum transfer — petroleum and chemical Cam-arm lever operation; dual closure; 360° orientation; cost-effective for high-frequency use 1½” to 3″
ARTA ASK-C Engineered Dry Break Premium process applications — petroleum, chemical, gas, food/pharma Single continuous rotating motion to connect; ATEX certified; widest size range; 50+ year design history ½” to 8″ (DN15–DN200)
Drylok Dry Break Hazardous corrosive and volatile liquids — acids, solvents, petrochemicals Driest disconnect available — less than 1cc fluid loss from 3″ unit Contact us
SAS Dry Breaks Tank truck and transport — general industrial NATO certified; quick connect/disconnect; minimal fluid loss 1″ to 4″

Frequently asked questions

What is a Kamvalok coupler?

A Kamvalok is a dry disconnect coupler made by OPW. It allows liquid transfer lines to be connected and disconnected without product loss, using a cam-arm lever mechanism that simultaneously opens and closes internal poppet valves in both halves of the coupling. “Kamvalok” is sometimes also spelled “Kamvaloc” or confused with “Kamlok” — a Kamlok is a standard cam and groove coupling without dry-disconnect valves, while a Kamvalok is the dry-disconnect version with automatic valve closure.

What is the difference between a Kamvalok and a Kamlok?

A Kamlok (or cam and groove coupling) is a standard quick-connect/disconnect fitting without internal valves — disconnecting a Kamlok under pressure or with a filled line causes product spillage. A Kamvalok is the dry-disconnect version: it contains automatic poppet valves in both halves that close before separation, preventing any product loss. Kamvaloks are used where spill-free disconnection is required; Kamloks are used for general-purpose quick connections where some spillage is acceptable.

What fluids can Kamvalok couplers handle?

Kamvalok couplers handle petroleum products, fuels, solvents and chemical fluids compatible with the selected body material and seal compound. Stainless steel bodies with PTFE, EPDM or FFKM seals extend compatibility to more aggressive chemicals. Contact Treloar to confirm compatibility for your specific fluid.

What sizes are OPW Kamvalok couplers available in?

The OPW Kamvalok range supplied by Treloar is available in DN40 (1½”), DN50 (2″) and DN80 (3″). Pressure ratings vary by size: DN40 to 15 bar, DN50 to 10.5 bar, and DN80 to 8.5 bar.

How does the Kamvalok prevent spills on disconnection?

Both the coupler and the adaptor contain spring-loaded poppet assemblies. When the cam arms are opened to disconnect, both poppets close automatically and simultaneously before the halves separate. Neither the coupler side nor the adaptor side releases product during disconnection — hence “dual protection.”
